FOUR STAR rating on yelp.com from Steve G. in Fort Mill, SC on 11/13/2012
This is a friendly, relaxed and intimate atmosphere with plenty of choices for wine and beer (usually 12 on tap and plenty more in bottles and cans). Enjoy Indoor or outdoor seating or take something home from the shop, even on Sunday.
Dave the owner is always very cordial and knowledgeable. The staff is fantastic.
They offer plenty of tastings and events, get on their mailing list to stay informed.
No television, yeah! This is a great place to sit and let the world pass by for a few hours.

Stopped here on my way back from Columbia. Saw it on Beerfly, thought I d check it out. Wow! This is a freaking excellent beer stop! Walking in, I can
tell it s mostly a wine bar, but tucked in the back corner is a sweet gold mine of a beer section. They don t carry the largest of quantities, but the
quality of beer they do carry more than makes up for it. I saw some from Ballast Point (Sculpin just arrived), Hoppin Frog (BA B.O.R.I.S. just came in that day),
tons of Stone, Rogue, Southern Tier, Lagunitas, Weyerbacher, Founders, Ommegang, etc. And the prices were all very reasonable; actually much cheaper than my local
spot, which shall not be named. If I were local here, I would hit this spot up all the time. I talked to the bartender quite a bit, and he was very knowledgeable
and helpful. Told me they have a quick-freezer in the back if I wanted to pull a bottle off the wall and consume there at the bar. Pretty cool. He was telling me
all about the tasting he and his buddies host, even showed me the list from their last meeting. Now that s a man that appreciates good beer. Very cool dude. I
will recommend this spot to anybody and everybody that is driving through, or lives around there.

Went to grapevine for a wine tasting event - GREAT event and inexpensive! For $15 you were able to taste 6 different wines that vary in price
(by the bottle) from high $20's to $80! These were VERY healthy pours for a tasting event and the owners, who put the event on, were very
informative about each wine. Apparently these tastings happen every 2 weeks or so...I know I'll be back!!

Great, Great, Great little wine bar. Every one of their bartenders/servers is not only knowledgeable about wine, but loves to talk about it,
if you want to! Never once, no matter how busy they were, has a server made me feel like I was inconveniencing them when asking questions about
wine to educate myself. For a boutique wine bar, the prices are very good. Also, the selection is good, but not so big you feel lost; obviously
very selective in what they stock. If you want a wine warehouse, WalMart-style, go to Total Wine. If you want a great selection of wines/beers
for any price range, go to grapevine.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention their philanthropic activity in the community as well. They always have fun "Guest Bartender" charity events,
as well as donations to local charity auctions, etc. They go far and above the normal "PR" type philanthropy.

LIKES IT on urbanspoon.com from Michael on 2/12/2011
First off, they have the nicest staff of any wine bar/taproom in the area. I have gone to grapevine maybe 30 times now,
and I have been treated well every single time.
One thing you may not know about grapevine: they have a collection of the best craft beers in the country available by
the glass, bottle, or growler. They will help guide you to a beer that you will surely enjoy.
They also have a great selection of wines as well! I know very little about wine, and have come to rely on their tasting
events as a way to learn more. Unlike alot of places in the Charlotte area, grapevine creates a welcoming atmosphere for
novices and experts alike. If you've always wanted to go to a tasting, but were intimidated, you won't feel that way within seconds of walking through the door.
It's my favorite place in the area to get a drink. In fact, I think I am going to wrap up this review and head over there now. :)

I first stopped in this place last January after reading a story in the local paper about growlers. I was just starting to dabble in the craft
beer scene. The owner Dave is a super nice guy always willing to help or just offer good conversation. He referred me to BA which helped me out
a great deal. Marie is the sweet lady who works during the day. She is always a fun person to talk with. Alex is cool dude who knows his stuff.
I'm not familiar with the folks who work at night but every time I go in, they are always super friendly. The place has a good selection of beer
and wine. I always find something to pick up along with my growler fills. The atmosphere is laid back and they play good music. They also do a
beer fest in March called Beertopia. Definitely worth checking out.

This place is my "Cheers." Only classier. And the owners are already married. And it doesn't have a mailman...but it DOES have some UPS folks.
My point is that this is the kind of place where everybody knows my name and they are always glad I came. I trust their recommendations...so far
Dave and Melanie have been right on the mark with all beer & wine suggestions.

"In a word, AMAZING. We went on a weekend evening and were
greeted by incredibly knowledgeable staff. The food was amazing,
the wine was even better and my fiance said the beer was some of
the best he's had.
The owner was great, down to earth, making his rounds to check
on people in a very personable way - the way a host would do at
a cocktail party or BBQ full of friends. For a while I wasn't
sure if the owner didn't actually know every one of the patrons
on a personal level or not.
We were there when they happened to have live music - not sure
if this is a regular event or not - but what great ambiance it
added!
We live in California, but have resolved to go out of our way to
stop by this place again the next time we happen to be in that
general region. I can't say enough great things about this
place, the owner or the staff! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!"
If you have the chance, GO!!

"I have been to the Grapevine and made a few purchases in the past and have
always dealt with Alex who has always been great to talk to and isvery
educated when it comes to good beer. Today I stopped in and met the owner
David for the first time. Super nice guy who seemed more like a regular BA
not someone trying to sell me a beer. We talked about a few types and he
made some suggestions. The growler station always
seems to have 2 or 3 great beers ready to flow. I live about 45 minutes away
but my work takes me this way quite often so I see myself becoming more of a
regular. As far as selection I seem to always pick up something here that I
can't find a few miles across the boarder in N.C. While there today in
stock was D.O.R.I.S., Black Ops, Barrel Aged B.O.R.I.S., Expresso Yeti, Ten
Fidy on tap and many more! All around great place to pick up some great
beers to go or just grab a pint to drink there and have some great
conversation."

"I love coming here. The music and atmosphere set this place apart. This is not
your typical wine bar. It is not uncommon for the owner to come out from behind
the bar and talk wine, beer, music, or anything else that is on your mind.
Great place and I love its success."

"Cozy and convenient place. Very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive
bartender.
"Stopped by for a couple glasses of wine with an old friend and thoroughly
enjoyed learning about the varieties of wine that the bartender thought I might
enjoy. Trusted his judgement and tried a few and was not disappointed. The
atmosphere is very nice--not too big, not too small, nicely decorated, and quite
cozy, I think. I've heard the food is good, but I've not yet tried it myself. I
certainly intend to though."

"My buddy and I stopped in for the first time yesterday. We were greeted by the
owner who is extremely knowledgeable about beer and obviously very passionate
about it. I was glad to see they carry Southern Tier
which I haven't had since I left Ohio. The growler station is clutch and the
draft beer selection is all top notch stuff. I was given a sample of Foothills
DIPA which I had not had before. I then enjoyed a glass of '08 vintage Founders
Imperial Stout...outstanding. I will definitely be going back soon."

"Some beer enthusiast friends took me to this place a few months ago, I've been
back several times since. I had driven by several times and just assumed it was
a fancy wine shop, boy was I wrong.
I was astounded by the selection of hard to find craft beers, at decent prices
(for craft beer). These guys have a wall that is literally filled with beer
bottles 6' high.
The bartenders really make or break a place like this. The guys who are usually
there are knowledgeable and are able to make good recommendations."

"I was brought here by a friend from Fort Mill - what a great little treasure.
Now every trip to Charlotte requires a trip to The Grapevine.
First off, it is great to see such a wide variety of beer and wine in the same
shop. The owner, Dave Sills seems to have a real passion for beer and it shows
in his establishment. Service has been top notch on each visit and I think the
same people have been behind the bar each time I have visited. The menu
listings are limited but they will chill any bottle you bring off the shelf.
If you are in the Charlotte area it's worth the drive down to Fort Mill to visit
and say hi, you won't regret it ...."

beer amd hard-to-find wine selection, to Dave (the owner) being just an all
around great guy, it makes me a bit sad that I don’t get up to Fort Mill more
often."
